I’m still looking into the reasons why they do this. I’ve heard a lot of opinions, from elitism, to love of the ski experience, to niche marketing. But nobody seems to have a definitive answer.

It’s interesting when you put it into the perspective about ALTA limiting half their ticket sales; even though they are resricting boarders from using the hill, I find it a little refreshing that ALTA seems to want to give their users the best experience possible….something that seems to be lacking today in some of the hills I know of. It seems to be all about the dollar signs these days. I might even say kudos to ALTA for wanting to keep the experience of the skier of the utmost importance. (And no….I’m not a skier myself:)

We now live in the age of the splitboards and snowboarders do a lot of traversing around on boards which double as “skis”

Do they have separate rules for splitboarders? If not, they should. Wish you asked them about this!

Glad your not going to waste any calories worrying about Alta allowing snowboarders or not! Lord knows we burned more than we could spare on Saturday anyway.

It was a ton of fun and I’m glad you came along for the ride.
