Its amazing the useful things that can be done with food. They all look like they’re having sooo much fun! Sadly, I’ll be missing this festival again next year since I opted to go to the encierros de pamplona instead and I can only spend a few weeks in Spain. I figure the running of the bulls may be banned soon, but this festival is probably here to stay so I can always go back. Definitely does look like it has a lot more happier people.

I’ve always really wanted to experience this festival! The closest thing I’ve done before is Songkran in Thailand – water fight fest! Nice to see a post by Rhonda – I discovered her blog just recently.

Actually, the tomatoes that are used are not considered edible. I’m not exactly sure why. I don’t think it’s that they can’t be eaten, but are just of such low quality that nobody wants to eat them.
That being said, I’m sure there are some Somolians who would appreciate a few tons of tomatoes right now, no matter how they taste.

I love the idea of traditions and festivals like La Tomatina. But I always feel a little like it’s a waste of so much food. That said, it would be quite a fun experience!
