I also met Rita back in 2005. I am very happy to hear that she is still alive! What a beautiful and inspiring woman!
She told me the same thing back then. She also showed me a piece she had weaved and some photographs of the whole process. It was clear that her style was distinct from the weavers in nearby regions. I remember telling her to teach the others before the tradition was lost but she said no one was interested. It’s really sad to see that, 11 years later, no one in the community saw the importance of learning how to weave so beautifully.

It reminds me of the movie Fearless, where Jet Li banishes himself to a remote rice farming village in order to teach himself life lessons.

This lifestyle seems so peaceful and serene; I wish I could be content living there. The unfortunate reality though is that once you have seen the outside world, you are forever tainted and your desire to see more will always be there.
