Yes the Jinja rapids are a popular place to go for white water rafting. The sheer size of the nile at this point is just humbling and makes thunderous noise. Its a great place to go and mix the gorilla tracking with some white water rating adventure.

Rafting can be such an intense experience! I remember my first and the last time on a raft..A bunch of totally inexperienced people and an instructor sitting in the back who was taking everything a bit too lightly for my taste not giving us any real instructions. The horror came when we hit the tree that fell into the river during a storm and our raft flipped over. I was trapped under the raft and of course I panicked. Could not see, could not breathe, wild water rushing in. But then I felt an arm around my waist, someone was pulling me out..When I emerged out of the water there was our instructor grinning over me. Grinning! Well, rafting is definitely way too much adrenaline for me..

Very interesting article. I guess I didn’t think that you could go white water rafting in Uganda. I always pictured Uganda as a jungle or something. I like the fact that it isn’t what I expected.

In reply to Sand In My Suitcase. Sand In My Suitcase, There is actually much more that just gorillas in Uganda, the National Parks are awesome with animals and birds, lodges are beautiful and not forgetting to mention, people are lovely, hospitable and welcoming.
