I’m new to kite-boarding but when you say, “To your left 90-degrees is also 12:00”, shouldn’t that read, “To your left 90-degrees is 9:00”? I’d also like to mention that body dragging is different from sand skiing in one major way, during sand skiing you are leaning back but when body dragging in the water, you lean forward like Superman. Hey Buck. I’m afraid I don’t know kitesurfing well enough to make that kind of recommendation. I’m sure your local shop can help, though. I’m sure there’s more than a few in SoCal.

Thanks for your comments. I really enjoy my job, it is so rewarding and the flexibility in terms of time it gives you is great and you only need a small amount of floor space, enough to stretch out your body, arms and legs etc. Just you and a mat is all that is really required to get started. Check out if there are any teachers in your area.

Hey Pedro. First, I need to point out that I am only a beginner and far from an expert.

That said, I think it’s a bad idea to try on such a small body of water — especially if wind is strong. It would be easy to lose control and end up dragging yourself across the ground.
