It was a merry Christmas for Matt-Gibson.org this year. I’m pleased to announce that Matt-Gibson.org was voted the best travel blog in Taiwan, and the best blog in southern Taiwan, in Taiwanderful’s best blog in Taiwan contest.

Thanks very much to Fili and David for running the contest and supporting all of Taiwan’s bloggers.

Matt-Gibson.org Chosen One of the Top Twenty Travel Writing Blogs

Yesterday a bit of e-flattery landed in my inbox in the form of an email from a Miss Anna Miller informing me that I made her website’s Top Twenty Travel Writing Blogs list. This email also marks a strange trend for my blog.

This is the third time my blog has been ranked on a toplist by a website specializing in online education. None of these lists appear to rank blogs according to traffic or popularity (otherwise I would not be on them). These lists do, however, usually include many of the blogs that, popular or not, have the best writing around, such as Galding, World Hum, Rolf Potts’s Vagabonding, Contemporary Nomad, and Tranquilo Traveler. Although I suspect that these lists are a ploy to get links from blogs with related content, I would rather just ignore that and take it as a compliment.

Yesterday my blog was placed alongside some of the best out there, and it totally made my day.

Matt-Gibson.org Ranked One of Taiwan’s Top Ten Blogs by GoOverseas.com

Like the title says, I was chosen one of the best travel blogs in Taiwan by GoOverseas.com, a large and well-respected portal for working, volunteering, and studying abroad. They even gave me this nifty badge to show off.

A Good Year for Awards (I Won Another One)

Damn, it’s been a good year for awards. Today I was notified that I was chosen as one of the top fifty travel blogs of 2010 ) by Awarding the Web — an organization that strives “to recognize excellent web content so that those who have worthwhile content can be distinguished from the useless, bad content that plagues today’s internet.”

I have no idea how these people find my blog. I don’t rank high enough with Google to come up at the top of searches, and I’m not listed in the top sections of any of the travel blog toplists. Yet, this is the second award (read about the first one here) I’ve received this year.

Strangely, both of these awards came from contests sponsored by online education companies. This award was sponsored by OnlineSchools.org, and clicking on the badge will take you to their website.

Regardless of who they came from, they’re very flattering. I hope you all continue to enjoy the blog, and keep nominating me for awards!

Wow, Matt-Gibson.org was Just Chosen as One of the Best Travel Blogs in the World

I just received an email from Online Degree Programs. They ranked Matt-Gibson.org as one of the 50 best travel blogs in the world. I’m even placed third on the list (although I don’t think that really means anything), just after World Hum and Best Travel Writing, two of the biggest and best group travel blogs in out there.

How flattering is that?
