Blog Construction and Management

blog-construction

Do you need a blog for your business? Or have a blog that you’re not sure what to do with?

I can help.

I’ve been using WordPress since 2008 and have built numerous blogs in that time using it.

The one I’m best-known for is, of course, the one that you’re reading. I also managed the redesign and relaunch of the Let’s Roll, the blog for FlightNetwork.com, in 2013.

Here are a few others that I’ve built for people over the years:

Some Common Misconceptions About Blogs

Misconception #1 – Creating a blog will require lots of expensive changes to my current website.

This is not necessarily true.

A complicated blog install does require a lot of expensive changes to you website. These installations, in my opinion, are a very bad idea for several reasons.

The simplest blog install requires very few changes to your existing website because the blog will technically separated from the rest of the website. This means that website problems will have a minimal effect on your blog, and that blog problems will have minimal effect on your website.  This type of installation only requires: 1) the creation of two new folders (one for your live blog and one for an ‘invisible’ test blog) in your website’s root files and 2) the creation of 2 new SQL databases.

Those two tasks can be completed in less than 30 minutes. Once those are complete, all I need is access to the folders and the information about the SQL databases so I can link them to your blog.

You will probably also want to link to your blog from your homepage. The difficulty of adding a link really depends on how your website is built, but for the vast majority of websites it’s a very simple matter to add a link in the footer, which is where many companies have their blog link.

Misconception #2 – Building a blog will take up a lot of my time.

You can be as involved as you want to be in the decision-making process, but you really don’t have to do much at all.

If you choose, you can be involved in every step of the creative process through regular meetings. If you want to be hands-off, then all you have to do is look over the concepts and mock-ups that I give you and approve them, reject them, or request modifications.

If you want your blog created quickly, no problem. Most blogs can be completed in less than a week.

Misconception #3 – I’ll never have time to maintain my blog.

OK, this one is probably true. But, that is why I offer blog management services as well.

For more information, read on.

How Much Will A Blog Cost?

My blog building services start at $1500 for a simple WordPress installation with theme customizations and recommended plugin installation.

Blog Management

I’ve been blogging for more than five years. My personal blog (the one you’re reading) has won multiple awards.

I also managed the FlightNetwork.com blog for one year, during which traffic increased tenfold and FlightNetwork.com built relationships with hundreds of travel bloggers.

You may say to yourself, “This guy doesn’t know anything about my business, so how could I trust him to manage my blog?”

Well, for starters, I’ve managed successful online campaigns for Eddie Bauer First Ascent, Liftopia, and others. I know how to communicate a brand’s message and use online strategies to accomplish their goals.

Also, although many people feel that trying to figure out which content will perform best on their blog is a guessing game, I have a logical straightforward method for deciphering which content will most likely to bring potential customers to your blog and then improving and refining it.

One Thing You Should Understand

To be perfectly honest, just hiring me to build and manage your blog is not likely to achieve all of your online marketing goals. The Internet is a complex and diverse place and the more places that your brand is visible (and linking back to your blog) the better results you will see. You can have the greatest blog manager in the world, but without a focussed content strategy that includes presences on multiple social media networks your blog will never reach its full potential.

For that reason, I’d strongly recommend that you look into my content marketing services.

How Much Does It Cost?

My blog management services start at $1000/month for blog maintenance and weekly blog posts.
