There’s a lot of talk about digital nomads, but few people really understand what our lives entail. This is partly the fault of the media, which usually glosses over the challenges faced by entrepreneurs who run online businesses while traveling as well as we digital nomads who also highlight glamorous aspects of our lives while downplaying the difficulties.
I’m as guilty of this as anyone.
The truth is, running any business is a lot of work. It’s even more challenging when you’re spending hours of your precious work time in taxis and airplanes, checking into hotels, and searching for fast Internet connections.
Pullman Hotels recognizes our need for balance between enjoying exotic locations and putting in a good day of work, and as a brand have striven to separate themselves from the crowd by providing ideal accommodations for workations (work + vacation = workation). This is highlighted by their Global Nomad Campaign (check out the video below to see what I mean) and with their #PullmanWorkation contest.
To inspire people to find the elusive work-leisure balance on the road, #PullmanWorkation contest entrants upload either a photo or a video and short description of their favorite work hack that makes their job more enjoyable. My entry was a video about my conference room, a scenic spot by the ocean a short hike from my house, where I’ll often have business meetings by telephone.
Below are a couple of shots from the video, but to see the whole thing you’ll have to head over the contest page. If you like it, please vote for me! The winner will get a free two week stay at any Pullman Resort or hotel.
To vote for me, visit the contest page, click ‘View and Vote’ and then scroll down. You’ll have to hit the ‘view more’ button a few times to before you see mine come up, which is a short video called Oceanside Conference Room.

If you have a work hack of your own, I highly recommend that you enter. Pullman has some beautiful hotels and I can think of few places I’d rather work from!
I love you named it as workation. What I heard is the staycation 🙂 I sure will gonna be doing a workation for my next adventure. For the only way for me to be able to travel again, is by bringing my work with me 🙂 Thanks!
